ive been looking at trucking gps' and trying to figure out what every device offers and im looking at the tnd 85 and the overdryve pro 8 v2 and other than their dash cams I cant seem to figure out any differences between the 2. Im not asking anyone to tell how un-reliable they are. im just trying to figure out whats being offered and what im looking for to start narrowing things down

I think the Overdyve has more apps and it's also a tablet with a firefox browser. There is an app store type thing but I've never used it. It's not a very good tablet, but if you have a mobile wifi or tethering you can toggle away from Nav to a browser to look something up real quick while underway, which is convenient.

The way they both mount is magnetic, and as rough as our roads are they fall off all the time which is really annoying.

I don't use many of the apps at all, but the web browser and the electronic version of the paper road atlas are both really nice to have.

Not sure if the TND has either of those.

I have used both RM 730 & 740. I have an iPad for tablet use so I can’t comment on the Apps and web browsers available on either tablet but both are probably Android so I assume any of their stores are supported.

I like RM but I hear their customer support is lacking and my 740 is acting up. They promise “lifetime” map updates but I’m not sure I’ve ever actually seen one. Maybe the “lifetime” of their GPS is only a few months or some BS.

but fir the most part I like RM and it gets me where I’m going and allows me to see what rest areas and truck stops are ahead of me on the route… although, like map updates, none of the new Loves will show up so they don’t update their address data base often either.
