Yeah, I'm planning on running on KLLM'S base plate and ins. 'til I can put some money aside for maintenance and Insurance. I'm going home next week to pay the 2290 fee, that no one can seem to tell me what that fee is for. (Cost of doing business I guess).

The 2290 fee is a Highway Heavy Vehicle tax. All trucks have to have it paid in order to get the plates. For a standard 80,000 plated registration the cost is $550 a year, but if the vehicle is used for logging or lesser weight the amount is reduced some. The money is suppose to be used for highway repair, but we all know that doesn't happen.
HwyPilot Thanks this. -
Looks like I finally have a breather moment to check in with you all!
Big thanks to PPPR and HwyPilot, I am BACK on the road with the Great White Hope and running like a madman.
Left out Tuesday, Soybeans from Cleveland, NC to Chesapeake, VA, then Midd Pellets from Winchester, VA to Kissimmee FL where I'm in line now to deliver, then Mulberry, FL to Arcadia, LA with phosphates for tomorrow and then Salt from Week's Island, LA to Cordele, GA for delivery monday. All pre-booked and lots of work.
Truck has been running great. I did one field repair, my bumper bracket rusted through on the passenger side. Even though we took extra time to fix and secure it before I left out, the bracket we bolted everything into came undone and it was riding the ground.
Well I had bolts but not many nuts, the only pair I had was thin and I found 4 washers of various sizes and made it work... for about 40 miles. Then I robbed a real nut and bolt from the other side of the bumper and redid it and that has been holding the last 2 days, so far so good. But yeah, I jumped right under there engine running and all and figured it out...not bad for a rookie!
I'm goiing to have to run like crazy the next couple months, have lots of catching up to do financially and everything renews in Feb... insurance, 2290, tags etc... at least I know where everything I'm earning is going for a while lol. All I know is this truck better get it done this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now to go back and catch up on some reading here... -
