West on 61 starting with Shell in Norco, Chevron in Rrserve, from there, all the way to Baton Rouge. A lot of Tankers especially near Geismer, by the big refineries. St Gabriel Truck Stop on Hwy 30, is full of Tankers. Good place to get info from Drivers. Clean Harbors, and Safety Kleen, and others that recycle the water from refineries, Crossroads in Kenner and Frisards near Reserve. have Local dry van Truckload work. Then you got the Port, Downtown N.O. Lot of containers. Also Hazmat chemical container work. There’s all kind of work down there.

 

Southeastern and Saia seem to have a big presence there. Estes in Hammond covers NO and BR. Depends on where you live. Traffic is bad. Fog, River and Lake can make commuting a problem. Housings cheaper across the River on the West Bank. Plenty of work over there on the Harvey canal. Peters rd. and Destrehan rd. Other areas, like Laplace, especially Slidell have everything you could ever need. They’ve grown a lot over last 30 yrs.The commute would be a deciding factor for Me. Having lived down there quite a bit over the years. Housing in the city is very expensive. Overall cost of living is high compared to other areas of the south. If your not careful, it can take every dime you make just to live there. The only way to decide, is to drive all around the areas. There’s some big economic differences within a small area. Finding the right location to live might be a challenge.
