The hiring manager was reading directly out of the booklet (contract). During my interview. He didn't mention a pension and said the cost of insurance and basically said I start at $25. Also their is dock work involved which is fine with me $25 to work the dock is ok to me. As long as I'm home to see my family everyday I'll do anything they want.

I didn't fully understand the pension deal. I know he said it is going away. But when I asked about insurance, he said I would need to ask a union rep. I then remembered why I don't work for union companies.

By the pay scale I was shown... UPSF/Tforce definitely isn't the highest hourly rate. Their big appeal is OT after 40. They offered me the lowest starting pay ($24) of the companies that I interviewed with and told me I wouldn't get a raise until the new contract. Everyone else told me that I would get raises and top out around $30, before I would even get a raise at Tforce.

Yeah, that is the effect of the current contract. Other LTL companies have caught up to what used to be industry-leading pay.

The hiring manager told me it's also overtime after 8 which is awesome to me.

Do you work for upsf or have you interviewed for a job there since they've become tforce? Do you also understand how these big corps work?

According to a poster that went for an interview, the pension is gone. Guys are now also paying for health insurance. Also, corps aren't in biz to handout goodies to employees. A corps business model is to squeeze as much labor out of employees as they can while returning as little pay and benefits as the market will allow in order to maximize their profits. So hence my statement that come 2023, I would not be surprised at all if Tforce did away with the pension and required employees to start contributing to their health insurance.

I also didn't say that guys who have 10 or 15 yrs into the ups pension lost it. I'm just saying that come 2023, I wouldnt be surprised if the company got the teamster leadership to agree to doing away with a pension all together in lieu of a 401k with the company chipping in a defined contribution amount. I can also see the company getting employees to start contributing SOMETHING to their insurance, even if it's only $50 a paycheck. All the company cares about is getting a foothold so over time, they can keep raising the contribution amounts that an employee has to give.
