Last two days of school and today we have that tropical storm rolling through. We have not been canceled yet but could be. That will leave us tomorrow. Also my original test date was 7/15 but due to scheduling issues it may be on 7/13. Either way I feel I am ready.

What ever you do NOT sign a lease purchase it is the biggest scam in the trucking industry. You will go broke and work for free finally quit and hate trucking for ever. Only take a job with W2 companies and earn a real wage. You will have NO employment coverage, you paid worker comp instead of the company, NO health benefits paid, NO taxes paid, NO social security paid.

Got a little more backing in but it got a bit to windy and rainy for the schools comfort. We did our final school exam today and tomorrow officially ends our course. Also we a recruiter with Schneider come in but the no pet policy was a no go for me. I had no plans to having my dog with me for the next several months but eventually I would like to bring her on the road with me.
Also my DMV test date did change. It is now on Tuesday at 10am. It is done at the school and the program coordinator administers the test. We did find out something interesting that I was not aware of as well. As I said at the beginning of my thread this course was $800 . That included the books, vest, rain gear, gloves, clipboard, ruler, logs, 2022 atlas, Drug test, and DOT physical. We were also informed that after passing the DMV test the school gives us a check for $107 to take to the dmv to pay for the license. I do not know if that is the same with other schools but I fully expected I would have to come out of pocket for that.
Going into this I had to question the $800 price . Sure the school is a community college and is state funded, but how good could it be for $800 for 6 weeks(5 weeks and a testing week) ? Well honestly It was better than expected. Instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and explained everything in a way that anyone could understand. All in all it was a good experience. Now I just have to pass the DMV test hahahaha
And thanks again @Chinatown . I have reached out to a few of the companies you have posted to see if any of them might be a good fit for me. -
Schneider is well known for small paychecks; you made the right decision.

Hey @Chinatown I just got off the phone with a USA truck recruiter. Interesting conversation. I asked him what was available in my location (eastern NC) and he said my best bet would be to use the load board. I let him know I was not interested in Leasing and he stated that he was not talking about leasing. He said because of my location my best bet would be using the company driver load board. I let him know I was under the impression that the Company load board was not available to new cdl holders and you needed 6 months with the company. He again stated that because of my location I would be able to use the load board. Have you ever heard of that before?
