    Hey @Smut,

Do they pay weekly there? And how's the health insurance there?

    Smut Thanks this.

    Yes they do pay weekly.

I’m not to sure about health insurance. Seems every year we switch to a new provider. As of now we have Blue Cross Blue Shield and I pay between $40 - $45 a week just for me.

For 2020 I grossed a bit over 58k. I had lots of time off going backpacking Thailand for 4 weeks and took almost 7 weeks off in the summer. We’ve been consistently busy for the most part even with covid and the winter holidays which is unusual.

I recently moved to Houston and am transitioning to local work now. I’m about to start taking some classes and Service has been as supportive and accommodating as they possibly can. That being said, by the end of the year I should be hanging my keys up and transitioning into a new career.

One thing I never mentioned about Service is the Mechanic shop in Houston. Sometimes it’s hard to get things worked on right away however they are some of the best mechanics I’ve dealt with in my 6 years driving.

Service seems like one of the more over looked tanker companies out here. We are hardly mentioned when it comes to threads about other tanker companies and I kind of like that. We just swallowed up CTL and have a broader customer base, a central dispatch for back hauls, and a new pay increase.

    I can’t complain at all.

Well as of 07/09/2021 Service is raising empty pay from $.39 to .46 cpm. Loaded pay is anywhere from $.60 - .70 cpm depending on experience. Seems like every year there is a substantial pay raise.

Unfortunately, the truck has to stay at the yard. They give us uniforms however we aren’t really required to wear them. Most chemical plants require long sleeve shirts and our new uniform shirts are FR so it’s easy to just throw on the shirt. And just in case you are unaware you have to be clean shaven.

Does the company supply you the respirator you need to wear? That's the reason for being beardless. So, if you don't have a respirator(that requires person-specific fitting and regular testing), what's the point in being clean shaven. And a chemical plant will not supply a respirator for the reasons I mentioned and liability reasons. In addition, there a myriad of available;e cartridges available. Using the wrong cartridge could be fatal.

I have worked in logistics departments for several large chemical companies, including managing a dedicated fleet. One customer required the use of a respirator. I had to become knowledgeable regarding the use of and administration of respirators. It is intensive. I doubt Service has a respirator program. I know for a fact Schneider Bulk will not 9in the past) accept loads requiring the use of a respirator.

They will supply the respirator and send you for a fit test. Also they will conduct a fit test in the office every year as well.

I’ve been with Service for 4 years and I’ve used it maybe 10 times. We haul some stuff that requires a respirator and breathable air. You will be trained on how to set up breathable air and all that fun stuff.

I have never felt unsafe whatsoever using my respirator and breathable air to unload. If done correctly there is little to worry about.

Great! Lots of companies haven the clean shaven policy with no respirator program to back it up. Wearing glasses always made getting a good seal ptoblematic for me.
