Nothing ridiculous about it. We don't need people driving down the road while they are high. And don't bother with arguments about .... You don't know if they are high while on duty. I don't care. I have no use for dope heads.

Neither does FMCSA or any carriers who value their reputation!!
This horse has been caned, flogged and beat to death so many times it isn’t funny anymore.
At the end of the day-the Feds say “NO”!!! Full stop!

That article does point out some very good points... Things that we drivers have known for decades, but safety groups have been reluctant to admit. I agree with most of what the article says, including the point that weed can be consumed responsibly just as alcohol can.

No, I'm not a person who indulges in the use of pot. Yes, I have smoked it a few times many, many years ago. No, I probably wouldnt smoke it again even if it was legal to do so. No, I don't thing a positve marijuana test should automatically "Black Ball" a driver in this industry. I know several folks that are excellent truck drivers (possibly some of the best drivers I've ever met), but choose not to drive truck because they like to smoke pot on occasions such as long weekends, vacation, or times of celebration... They partake responsibly.

The bottom line is that FMCSA says "NO!" to pot use in the trucking industry and, until there is a RELIABLE way to test for IMPAIRMENT, I believe this is the right choice.

    Just my 2 cents...

Pot is not really going to work with MOST jobs much less Truck Driving. Have you seen the stoners out in public. Living in tents, smell worse than a pig. No thank you. We don't need them driving a Truck and Trailer 80,000 LBS. Forget that.

Why don’t the same rules apply to liquor then?

I think pot is much more mentally addictive. It causes pychosis in the users. Do you know anyone that smokes the high powered weed they have now in the recreational pot head states? They are a MESS... I MEAN A MESS. You have to be around one to know. They need not add a Tractor and Trailer to that out of control POT use of theirs. Wow.

There are too many who have a financial stake in making sure that doesn’t happen.

And I'm sure many of those also have financial interest in grow houses as well, but they wouldn't want that info to get out there.
