I actually live in such a location that really suits doing local with my company. I'm between the company yard and most of our more distant local customers. I'm off the beaten path, on a state highway that 2 of our customers are also on (both are about ten miles from my house, in opposite directions), the state highway I live near cuts diagonally between I-15 and I-86 (our main local lanes). And so far the boss has gone out of his way to schedule my runs so that I can take the truck home as much as possible (every night, except the night I spent in Boise). If this trend continues, I may actually make about the same if not more than I did OTR.
Its not so much that I dont like to drive my pickup... Its more a matter of my bottom line. The less I have to drive my POV, the more profitable this job is for me. If I had to commute the 100 miles, round trip, each day... I couldnt afford to do this job.
What if it Snows?

Sounds like ours, only we got lucky. Appt window 0800-1000 got there @ 0905. Nobody works in this warehouse on weekends. As we are getting ready to leave a regional manager pulls in doing a spot check to see condition of warehouse. Apparently it's being almost completely restarted, and he wanted to see if the managers they brought in were fixing old problems. Anyways he found out they hadn't done things right before everyone left yesterday, and he had pity and unloaded us.Dale thompson, austinmike, Rideandrepair and 6 others Thank this.

A good friend moved to Bozeman in 1993. I want up to visit a lot to snowboard at Bridger Bowel.
I couldn’t believe the Mexican food was so bad. All you have to do is bring up some Latinos and then leave them alone while they cook.Dale thompson, InTooDeep, Rideandrepair and 6 others Thank this. -

Yep I bypassed it for the scenic views of Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier while hanging out on my piece of a plateau in Lewis county.
Really the main reasons for me to bypass that area are: the Oregon state gov't, A bit dry for my taste, local overrun by Californians that I do not fit in with, and the B.S. associated with the Shakespeare festival. Well and very little good freight in the region on the LS board at the time combined with the 21 cpm road use tax..... Was just not going to be a good fit.
