Hey guys. So lil background for you. 2012 i had my CDL was 22 years old had a little local job in houston, decided to go oilfield and ended up having Halliburton call me back for frac, long story short failed DOT pre employment drug test cuz I was very dumb back then, so then a few days later got a DWI and lost my CDL(like I said i was very dumb).....so fast forward ive since turned my life around a while back, now im 30 years old been clean longer than i can count, have a wife and 3 children, still live in houston. I work as a traveling wind service technician its 6wk on 1wk off it pays the bills but has become a burden being away that long, I'm missing my kids grow and just overall starting to dread going to work. So i recently just took a shot in the dark and applied for frac operator assistant trainee with Halliburton in odessa, made it thru everything but hiring manager turned me down last minute because of what happened 8 years ago. OH BTW MY VIOLATION IS NO LONGER IN THE CLEARINGHOUSE CUZ ITS BEEN SO LONG AGO....so anyways, im really thinking about getting my CLP and getting my CDL on my own on my off time, u know take the practice tests on here until i memorized it and go to DMV and pass tests and rent a rig for driving test after a few days practice been a minute but ill remember a 10 speed quick then after that trying to get into the oilfield again. 2wk on is nothing compared to 6wk on. I just don't know who i can go apply with, with no experience whenever i do go and get my CDL or what to do, i kinda wanna frac cuz its good hours but im down for whatever i can make money on and be home every 2 weeks. And advice/help/anything would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance for your consideration and time.
Whats up yall

Will it really be that tough. Because i looked at clearinghouse and I'm not even in there? So technically its like my violation never happened? Only reason i did the SAP thing was cuz it was still in Halliburton's company system.

Do you think Halliburton will give the information on a job verification?
If you don't have a cdl now, then companies are only required to check most recent 3 yrs. of employment and you may only have to list that.
They go back 10 years for current cdl holders.
They can go back as far as they want, but only required to go back 3 yrs. -
Lynden Transport has a "dock to driver program" so you can work in their warehouse on the docks and they'll help you get a CDL-A, then drive for the company.

Not much I can add. Keep pounding the pavement. The primary issue that carriers have with SAP/return to duty is complying with subpart O of part 40. Because to be honest it's a royal pain in the butt for them. Especially 40.307 and 40.309. Good luck finding a job. I would not get my heart set too much on getting a rental to test on. That's not as easy as it sounds.

This one probably send you to school in Ft. Worth, than at graduation transfer to the Houston terminal. You're paid even while in cdl school.
