Work as much as you can. Do the work you don't want to do. Answer the phone whenever they call. Before long the phone won't stop ringing, and then the phone won't ring at all once you get a set schedule. Just keep your eye on the prize.

Put it this way. My average check in the beginning at parcel was ~$700 gross. Now I make $2,200 per week, rain or shine.

I didn't know it was going to be on call they didn't mention anything like that. They said expect late nights. ##$&... I can't afford that.

I'm not sure how freight works, and every terminal is different. Give this a shot. If you make some sacrifices now, you could be set long-term. My house started to look like the local crackhouse the last year I didn't make enough money to do all the projects that the house needed. Sometimes you have to take a step back to advance.

I hope your right. It's straight up sucked for the last three years. Hopefully it gets better.

Having co-workers 16 years your senior in tenure doesn't mean you're going to starve in the slightest. At my old FXF barn most of the senior drivers wanted to be at work as little as possible, so they took the easiest gigs that had the most bang for the buck with regard to hours being spent at work.

Don't be shortsighted to think "crap" by that facet alone. R+L is a good outfit, but if benefits are your concern, and being paid for everything you do, stay on TForce. Also, if you find you tire of nights and you jump to R+L and jump to the city board, are you going to be hip to the fact that they pay O/T after never, make you buy your own pallet jack, and have lackluster benefits by comparison?

Truthfully, being at TForce right now may be a golden opportunity in the future. The main operation has positive history of working with unions, and generally run an organization very well (from all that I read).

Gotta remember where we live. NY as a whole is a joke and we're on the other end of this joke. I went to parcels interview a few years ago and they actually said we encourage our new hires to have another job. Western NY is a black hole in many ways unfortunately. I hope this works out for him but a good friend of mine got tired of sitting by the phone for UPSF. I hope TFORCE values their drivers more.

Well I hope your wrong about sitting by the phone. I can't afford that what's so ever. I hope this is my golden ticket. Me and my family can hopefully catch a break. If not then I guess that's just how life is going to be for me I guess.

If it doesn't work out hit me up in a PM. I'm working in the falls. It's days currently available and 80k plus no touch is available as long as you can go to Canada.
