Yes it's dry van overweight. We haul 4 axle dry vans mostly into Canada.

According to the regional manager that i interviewed with, the pension would be replaced with a 401k now. He stated that the pension stays with UPS. The reason there will not be any raises is because the contract will not allow. The contract says start pay is $17. If I remember correctly, it takes 3 years to reach $24 per the contract. It may be 2 years...? (My interview was 2 months ago.) Regardless, the contract won't catch up (with raises) before the next negotiation. This info came from the regional manager that I met with. Yes, he did say that I would get all the OT I wanted. OT after 8 and 40. He even said I could work the dock if no runs or even go to another terminal. I chose to go with another company tho. So far, I am very happy with my decision too.

See it's weird your starting at $17 and I'm at $25. Are you in a low cost of living area. Sorry I'm not trying to get personal just curious. The manager and the driver said it starts at 25. And the overtime is great news. I need as much as they'll give me. Thank you for your info. The only thing that stinks is the pension. I've always wanted one. But maybe a 401k is better? I'm still learning all that stuff.

They raised the starting pay at certain high cost of living locations to attract drivers.

And as for which is better, it depends on the pension.

I'm just going to go in with an open mind and maintain positive thinking no matter what happens. I know everyday is different but I just don't want the little stuff to get under my skin.
