"....make sure it's all cotton not nylon. Works so much better."
C'mon Nana, I had to read 30 pages of menopausal meanderings for that little tidbit!!!!

(Actually, thank you!)

Boots with Gore-Tex lining usually keep your feet pretty toasty. On the bad side, they can get pretty pricey.

I agree. They cost a little more initially. But if you are going to work in them nothing can beat them. Wash them all you want. They just get a little softer. If you should manage to tear them the ouch will not spread. Keep wind out about as good a nylon. Great for welding too. And if you are looking for something a little more stylish they have colors and cuts for about anything. you get what you pay for.JustSonny Thanks this.

Under Armour makes about the best stuff around, but its stupidly expensive.
Cabelas has their own brand, I ordered a couple shirts the other day. Ill report back when I get a chance to wear them.JustSonny Thanks this. -

Thanks to the man of a few words! I checked out Carhartt on line, filled a "shopping cart" with everything I'd need from the top of my head to boots for my feet. Total tab was just under $500 but I chose some of the pricier items (I didn't buy anything, just filled a cart). Included in the $500 were items that you don't always wash after a use or two (jacket, boots, e.g.). Take away about $275 (for boots/jacket) from the $500 and what's left is about $225 spent for socks, thermals (high end for Carhartt), gloves, quilted pants, and a thick woven shirt. For my budget that's a little high but with some jobs clothes are like tools - you just gotta have the right tool for the job.Big Don Thanks this. -
I went to Muck on-line and saw a pair of ankle boots called "Jobbers" for about $100. They looked ###### comfortable. If Muck is a good brand and the Jobbers make sense for driving, then $100 ain't too bad. There's a feed and seed about 10 miles from my house that carries Muck brand. Next time I'm there, I'll look at them a little harder. Thanks for the tip!Last edited: Dec 18, 2009
