Those batons spring loaded or not are also illegal to carry in a lot of states. Using one even to defend yourself will land you in jail. But hay it's better to be tried by 12 than carried by six.

i do have a carry permit. It is good in 30 or so states. It is not limited to guns but also billy clubs, mace/pepper spray and stun guns.

Fyi you dont have to be a FL resident to get a concealed weapons permit in FL.

Dude! If you're this worried about needing protection you need to stay home! There are literally thousands of women drivers out there that have no protection except for maybe a tire billy!

I used to carry a gun and when I finally needed to use it I was the one to go to jail not the gang member that jumped on my truck! I now use a coat hangar with a 4" broom handle. It's not usable in the truck if your sitting down but at 12" and the "person of interest" is trying to crawl in the window they have no idea what just stung the holy crapola out of their face and a rapid retreat will happen!

Forget the stupid tasers. And a cattle prod is a little to long and can be taken away from you too easily as they really aren't in the same class as a taser It'll just PO the person off!

Keep your door locked. ALWAYS even while driving.
Do not get out of the truck in dark or in "suspicious" areas.
Use a motorcycle strap across the doors at night when parked.
Be aware of your surroundings when walking across a parking lot in both daylight and night. This means to "check 6" (look behind yourself) often.
Look under trailers as you approach them for legs and feet and also behind the cabs. The same goes for when using an ATM, keep looking around until you get back to the cab!
If in doubt drive somewhere else or pull onto the fuel island and do what you need to do EXCEPT eating and showering!
When walking keep your keys IN YOUR HAND! A key can cut and hurt an assailant and when you get back to the truck you are not standing there fumbling for them and being an easy target!

These are easy rules to follow for men and women.

WOMEN. Do not trust anyone these days!
Women drivers have been known to ask for an escort into the building just to get exactly what they hoped to avoid!
Be aware of CB Radio Lover! So what if you drove together for the last million miles and he wants to stop for coffee. Yes, it might be an actual offer for coffee but again it's been reported that that harmless cup turned into a nightmare!
Be sure that your curtains cover the windows! Duct Tape is the same color (well mostly!) and when applied to the bottom of the window curtains prevent "Peeping Toms" from peeping!
Always set the trailer brakes before pulling out and backing against the trailer to latch the trailer back up. And do a visual check while doing your PTI. Yes some of these Truck Stop loosers who you shot down either on the CB or in the restaurant are total morons and have been known to pull your 5th wheel! No, you don't need to park with tension against the trailer. Winter parking rules apply here!

But again as for having a gun or taser. There are so many different laws for each state, county and town that you will have to take a year just to look them all up and keep a book on where you can and can't go with them! Since I lost that gun to NC which was the only time in 20 years that I needed it and that was back in 95! I lost a great S&W13-2 to a manhole cover!

    Good Luck

i did not start this topic someone else is more worried than I. I've been a bouncer for 12 years. i know how to handle any situation. I am far from worried. You can't teach street smarts and common sense. How you carry yourself is your first line of defense.

Well sometimes the bad guys just don't want to leave any witnesses. What are you going to do then? Karate chop them?

Also to those who cry "it violates company policy", who cares. Before I drove big trucks, I worked at UPS part time as a package handler, and then at FedEx as a package delivery driver. At both places, I carried my Glock model 23 with me to work every day. At both places, I went through a metal detector every day. I used a not too advanced concealed carry method. Months and months of carrying every single day, and it was never found out. No one will know if you do not run your mouth.

I am a large individual, and some may say quite formidable. I have heard it said that when I smile, I am quite handsome, but when I don't, I look insane. Whatever the hell that is supposed to mean. Many folks get scared when homies look at them. I look at them with confidence, like what are you going to do. They get the message, and leave me alone. But what would either of us do if some ninja high on crack decided to kill us. What if verbal judo failed?
