I do believe GMRS supports repeaters not FRS. GMRS because of the power limits also requires licensing, I think thats around 75 bucks maybe less.

You're correct, GMRS users may use repeaters and use up to 50 Watts of RF output. Currently (a reduction is coming in the near future) the license is $75...Timin770 Thanks this.

I have been listening to these guys for several days now and it is quite an active group -
Yeah that’s all it is, but I don’t hear a lot of people id’ing themselves like they are supposed to.

Well then if the range is as poor as has been portrayed by some here on this forum they're probably not bothering very many people
