These new trucks are just plain junk. I was just talking with the guy I wrench with today he has 25 years in and I have 15 years in. We both have never had so many difficult, expensive, irritating issues in our lives. I spent days on a fuel system I took out to find out he had the same issue with a truck tonight and turned out to be a bad fuel filter. Between us both on 2 trucks we had about 20 hours of labor in for a #### filter. The truck ran good but the #### computer wasn't happy. The filters we bought from the dealer weren't good enough. It gets more frustrating everyday with these new trucks

That's a rough run right there. I've lurked a bit on your posts and I was pretty surprised they didn't total it to begin with. I hope this is the end of your troubles caused by that wreck. Hopefully she starts making you some money.PoleCrusher, OldeSkool and Coffey Thank this.

I was too trust me. I thought for sure the insurance would have declared it totaled after the wreck. But they hired a local adjuster due to the beer virus and he said it was fixable.
And i sure hope so. This is getting ridiculous, i mean i knew def trucks were junk and id have one or two major repairs a year going INTO this but this just seems excessive.....Also every time i hear a ding now my heart skips a beat heh. -
Is your truck a 2018? I had some plastic coolant fittings break on a 2018. I was livid at Cummins but turned out it was the OEM (Paccar) that had done it. They are no longer like that.
-
I have very good luck with new 680’s and Cummins X15. Trust me, not all trucks are like yours. In fact on that 2018 I mentioned... it ran for almost 300k with those fittings as the only problem.
Hopefully your luck turns.Vampire, PoleCrusher, OldeSkool and 1 other person Thank this. -
So another two weeks another several thousand in repairs as the saga continues. Lost 3 tires likely related to wreck damage as they were all on the same side as the wreck, also tore out my ABS sensors. Lost my A/C compressor pully when it literally exploded. And turns out i had several pinched rubbed and cut wires to my emissions system due to the last major repair not having properly pinned the wires back up or having been knocked loose in the wreck which max derated me. My pitmam arms, drag link and tie rod have all failed again. And i have lost both drive shocks on the side of the wreck. Then in a freak thing my trailers rear cap sheered the bolts holding it down and ripped off my trailer for good mesure.
sigh......anyone know a good place to dump this PoS that will give me around $60K? i really want to be an O/O but man #### this junker to hell with a poleaxe. I cant get two weeks without thousands in repairs. I mean hell at this point i just dont know what to say. I could have LITERALLY gotten a brand new custom best specs O/O 389 or W990/900 for less then this thing has cost so far and it still just keeps falling apart.Vampire Thanks this. -
Have you tried giving Peterbilt Steve a call? Maybe you can swing a trade in-sale/purchase deal on a new 389?Vampire Thanks this.
-
Trade on a brand new one. Probably about the best bet. Your far more than making the payment anyway. You could get a cheaper truck than a 389 unless you just want that.
Vampire Thanks this. -
Just read the whole thread.
Most unlucky truck i have heard about.
Good Luck
