glad to see your pa got it figured out. exact same issue reared it's head on my '06 2500HD with the 8.1 last fall, I only use it for pulling my 40' toyhauler camper and the odd pilot car job. started doing the miss under load. hooked it to the code reader and all it said was that it recorded a miss in 4 and 6, no codes. changed all the plug wires and plugs, she pulls like a freight train again with no miss. pretty good longevity out of those OEM GM plugs and wires lol.

That's how I travel, mainly camp, and mainly alone. All my riding buddies don't seem to see the point of sweet 600 mile day. As a dude with a family, I tend to cram as much fun as I can into the time I have.

I've done a few 1000 km days, but only on the HD. I'm too friggin old to try it on anything less than the geezer glide anymore. the vet told me after my neck surgery last September that my hardcore off road days are over. Along with sledding. I feel neutered.

My road bike is a Honda ST1300. Comfy, fast and I've squeezed 600km out of a tank of fuel.
    I ain't suffering lol.

Sweet. As long as you don't mind putting in miles when need be. When we are on blacktop we will do between 750-800 miles in a day. However, we usually try to take 2 lane and alot of dirt/gravel. It's more fun that way, but sometimes, we just loose track of time and need to get back. Prolly going to go last week of August or so. You should give it a thought.

I carry just under 8gal of fuel in my gsa. My buddy rides a gs. Has half the distance I do. I get about 475miles out of a tank depending on my wrist.

On my 450X the most I could do is about 300 miles a day on slab, an hour at a time or things start to go numb. Best I've ever got out of the Ultra for mileage is 320km from a 5 gallon tank. Much less when a guy winds it up, got into a pretty good rainstorm on my way home from Edmonton and stopped in Whitecourt to fuel up and put on the rain gear. Held it at 160km/hr all the way to Valleyview until the fuel light came on.
