In most cases, a laser printer will because it preheats itself before use. In general though, most won't when you are talking about below freezing temps, but how often would you need to print where the cab is below freezing?

I used a Canon pixma ip1600 ink jet in all weather, never had a problem. All you need is a cheap inkjet either Canon or HP. Canon and HP both have the jet built into the ink cartridge, if the jets get messed up get a new ink cartridge.

I use DDL and swear by it. You have to print it out at everyday, You are required to physically sign your log book because DDL does not qualify as electronic logging as you can changes the entry's on the fly. There fore you must legally keep a printed copy for the last 7 days available. How I use it is for checking my logs prior to turning them in, By the way I use a Sony Vaio Notebook and a Lexmark printer with a Cobra Power Inverter (700 watt) plugged into the cigar plug works very well.
I use loose leaf supplied by the company as I drive, at the end of the day I enter the log into DDL and if there is a problem then I can just fill out a correct log. Make sure you tear up any incorrect log book pages, stuff them into a soda can and trash them. It is legal to correct a log book page as necessary to ensure their legal and accurate. Do not at anytime carry pages that conflict with each other, ever.
Some DOT Cops will except DDL other will not in any case its a argument for the court not the side of the highway, or at least thats my logic. -
It doesn't matter whether some "won't" accept DDL.
The "GUIDANCE" was printed in the FMCSR beginning in 2004
In about 14 years (or so) of using DDL, I only remember ONE (CHP) officer giving me grief about using DDL.rookietrucker Thanks this. -
Yep......and that's why it costs 1/2 as much as the printer to replace the ink cartridges.
Kodak has a much better deal; printer/scanner/copier costs 1/3 more than comparable HP printer/scanner/copier, but ink cost about 1/4th. -
I have looked at the DDL site and it seems pretty cool. However....I use a MacBook and the software isn't Mac compatible. Does anyone know of a good logging program that is Mac compatible? Thanks.

You can run DDL with a MAC if you use a WINDOWS emulator (like Parallels)
You can even run DDL on a LINUX based OS.

yeah, I knew I could do via parallels or do a boot camp into windows....was hoping something existed out there that used the Mac OS....I guess I'll have to spring for parallels if I want to stay in the Mac side. Thanks
