I would imagine you do have to pay that because that's basically part of your registration fees.
-
Contract should say if you are responsible for all permits and registration.. IFTA etc.
feldsforever Thanks this. -

I’m pretty sure the 2290 has to be paid by the first name on the title. That’s the one thing that’s exempt from Lease agreements. A Company can pay all plates permits, fuel taxes. Workman comp. Any other perks. But 2290 tax needs to be paid by “Owner” in this case you’re the Owner, Company your buying from is the finance company. You have till Aug 31, to pay. Depending on when IRP plate is due, a copy of the paid receipt ( with water mark, if payed online) will be needed, along with proof of insurance, and copy of Operating Lease agreement.( Not Truck financing Lease agreement) Two different things. My IRP is due Sept 1st. I’ve often paid 2290 on the last day, Let Plate expire, renew on Sept 2nd or 3rd. Your Company’s going to let you know, so they can renew your plate, if they’re doing it for you. The problem with that is they sometimes charge you back for the full amount, yet they Own the plate, should you leave, free to put it on one of their Trucks. Then you’ll need to buy a new plate, one way or another.

Did you pay it, or are they asking you to pay it?

On your contract look for the term "and other fees as required". It's usually in very small print. If the contract has that kind of wording, either get all the fees explained to you or get out of the contract.
"Other fees as required" is a license to steal.feldsforever and slow.rider Thank this. -
if you can’t afford the $200 to $400 to get this done, then you don’t need to be an owner but a driver.feldsforever Thanks this.
