17.5's are a PITA to dismount. Until we got one of these upload_2021-7-21_18-15-58.png
I would literally have to beat the tire with a sledge hammer while standing on tire irons. One of hardest tires I have ever dismounted. Mounting them is a breeze.

I'm glad somebody said it. Hey, trucking is hard knocks, it's one crushing defeat after the next. If it didn't pay so well, we never would do it ( cough) Don't be fooled, pavrom, we've ALL been through this, it's what makes you an experienced truck driver. One rarely gets taken twice in this business, or shouldn't. I give you a lot of credit for even doing this today.

    ...charged $57 ....

While I'm not gonna try and defend the injustice here, I will say I have changed a few of these 17.5 inch tires, and they're about the worst thing I've ever had the unfortunate displeasure of dealing with. I'd rather have a root canal than ever deal with those again.

I hate changing 17.5 tires. Did one roadside once. Took 3 grown men to wrestle it off.

Then they must be worse than 19.5 tires; they suck, too.
I changed out both rear spindles once, and kept one - to mount on a 3'X3' steel plate, to take the tires off the wheels.
I now can bar them off, or on, without looking like the monkey/football routine.

I’m settling for this instead of the long reply I started.

they will take anyone with a pulse that can hold onto an impact gun.

That could be said for holding a steering wheel too!

You got that right. Can’t even pass in some places without some steering wheel holder trying to trade paint, and old Peter Peter Peter eater in the far left lane blows your doors off.
Like I just wanna do close to the speed limit, I’m cool with 5 over or 5 under, I don’t wanna do 20under or 10 over.

    Stray_Dog Thanks this.
