I understand this question has been asked countless times already, and it seems they only do UA, but I've come to find out companies change their policies pretty frequently. As of April 2021 it seems they still just do urine but I haven't found anything more recent than that. My recruiter said any drugs in the past 6 months disqualifies you, and I told them I smoked marijuana a little over 2 years ago so that's what leads me to believe those who reveal they have used drugs in the past my get the hair test. I have heard that they may do hair testing "by request".

So can anyone confirm if they do hair testing as of very recently?

If you test positive for the hair test is the result reported to the DOT/FMCSA/Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse like the UA results are? I ask because I understand the UA test is mandatory DOT procedure while the hair test is up to each companies' discretion.

Don't waste your time with the whole "If you're even asking this question, you shouldn't even be thinking about this career." spiel. Just want a straight answer to my question if anybody is kind enough to do so. I don't care what you otherwise have to say about the topic.

If you really smoked weed two years ago then stop talking about it. You’re only going to damage your chances of getting hired.

If you test positive the result will be in the clearinghouse and you’ll have to disclose it on every driving application from now until eternity.

I'm not going to rag on you about smoking. But use some common sense when you talk to these companies. Never, ever, volunteer any info. I don't care what kind of drugs you did for how long. When asked if you ever used the answer is always, NO. And realize that the companies that use hair tests and in the minority, as they are not recognized as valid by the FMCSA.

This is wrong. A result is only placed in the Clearinghouse if it's a DOT regulated test. The only current regulated test is a specific UA test . It's what all trucking companies must do by law.
Any non regulated test like hair follicle and others will not be reported. As such, depending on the wording of the application, you do not need to admit to them.

I'm sure Western Express doesn't... and you might be really happy there.

If you wave a Giant Green Weed Flag in front of the company, they’re going to hair test you every time. I’d wouldn’t even continue with the companies you disclosed that to and start fresh someplace else. And if you smoked weed two months ago don’t waste your own time.
