wheathauler,.. i saw where you posted that you have a c12,how do you like that motor? how's the power, torqe, mpg, and reliability? i know they are a lot lighter and that extra weight would be nice.have you had yours long?
-
They are light and power & torque is pretty good. The motor that was in it dropped a valve this april...shelled the engine. Put in used one and so far it's done all right. 6.5-7 mpg. I think it was a 2003 engine that was put in...had 400,000 on it. I have only put 13,000 on the engine but haven't seen many oil leaks.
dairyman Thanks this. -
That was in a Dodge 2500 pickup with a V-10 engine. I don't know what it would do in a big engine, but would like to find out.dairyman Thanks this. -
Yep, as I stated previously valvoline could be a good oil. I don't know though I've used shell for a number of years.

thanks for the info, was your original a c12 and if so,how many miles did you have on 'er when she dropped the valve? sorry for all the Q's, just would love to get a little lighter the next time. if i am taking too much space on your thread just tell me to shut-up and i willwheathauler said: ↑They are light and power & torque is pretty good. ,i was just looking back over your thread today, and i am kinda ''hogging'' all your space,so if it is annoying ya'll just say so,i don't want to be a ''pain'',but i have sure enjoyed this thread, thanks for startin' it.

Talk all you want it doesn't bother me. It's what's this thread is for information, venting, talking about your day, whatever.
This actually is the third C-12 it's had in it. Originally had c-12 and now two used engines. The truck has over million miles on it so not too bad. Dropping a valve could happen to any engine so won't hold that against it. It had around 720,000 when the valve dropped...mechanic I use, said get over 700,000 start thinking about rebuild. I thought later I should have put C-13 in but would have been more expensive. -
How's it going Big John?
-
thanks wheathauler, i just don't want to be a ''thread hog''. i agree on the valve dropping, could happen to any motor.you must be pretty happy with the c12 since you have put 2 more in. thats what i was fishi'n for, confidence in the motor your runni'n,thanks for the info. i have been runni'n this b model cat for almost 4 years full time, plus 9 more years just for myself at the dairy and confidence means a lot to me.wheathauler said: ↑Talk all you want it doesn't bother me.
