That I do not know, but would guess 16' plus based on those that I have seen.

My trailer with all my chains and binders etc. weighs about 21000 lbs, and my tractor weighs about the same. It has 2 speed rears and a retarder, so it is heavy for a day cab. A new 55 ton Aspen without booster is $80k to $100k I think. Aspen is one of the more expensive brands as far as I know, and built in Canada.

I believe most 12 axle (3+3+3) outfits including tractor axles are 78 to 80k lbs. If one is pulling a jeep then usually a 3 axle tractor with heavy front makes better sense than a 4 axle tractor.

Once you get to that big of trailer you often see 9' or 10' wide trailers, which require a permit.

I may not be completely accurate on the above information as I have little experience beyond 7 axle, but I think the information is pretty close.

what can they permit for on 12? Any guesses?

    Around here it’s 100,000 on 6 and NY is 117,000 on 7 annual permits……

Oxbow, spsauerland and 98989 Thank this.

Haven't seen a Simon's truck for ages its easy to tell if you're following one due to the 95 km per hour speed limiter.

I'm not sure. I go up to 151, 000 on 7 on the black routes here, which are primarily the interstate and a few other highways. I should think around 250,000 anyway.

    Flint1 and spsauerland Thank this.
