Good start for them. To me, driving OTR, a Rand McNalley is a must. There are many that would never know their full value without someone mentioning them. Or in your case, giving them one.

The maps are but one small reason to own a RM Motor Carriers Atlas. Every Truck Driving School in the Country should teach their students how to use one and send them out the door with it when they graduate. Just charge $8020.00 for the training. What's an extra $20.00 on the price of the schooling!

I took a picture of every page in the laminated spiral bound version and now it’s always with me.

That’s a good idea. I’ve just taken pics when I need to zoom in to a detailed area.

Moose1958 I have no problem with resurrecting an old thread at all. He seemed to bring it back to the top to complain about TTR forum and nothing more.

You posted your question in a section called “Questions from New Drivers” and you are disappointed other members would think you are a new driver?

You’re more than welcome to find a another forum, one that would be more accommodating to your needs and one that would know exactly what you want simply based on ESP or osmosis, so your forum prowess would not be an issue.

Having been a cartographer (mapmaker) in my previous occupation, I can "professionally" recommend the the Rand McNally Deluxe Trucker Atlas. Good maps and good reference info. I started with a 2019 and a few months ago got a new 2021 version. Stuff does change. I left my old one in the trucker lounge area one of our Terminals for another driver to benefit from. I think I paid about $40 at a truck stop for it. I don't remember which truck stop.

Anyway, besides the laminated ones simply being more durable, you can also use a dry erase marker on the pages and later wipe it off with a rag. That's a good way to mark out a route you want to take.

You might want to create a new post over in the Electronics section to ask that question. Below is the link
