    @shooter19802003 (long story)

    A week or so ago, you said something to Rocks about not apologizing for stating her opinion and that to do so was a sign of weakness. I met up with a guy that I’ve known since he was a kid. As a kid, he was a good kid, but goofy. He got married 10 years ago to a good girl, but recently she called it quits, and now this guy is pushing 40 and trying to make himself marketable. He has a huge problem: His DEFAULT SETTING is to apologize.

    For everything that could ever happen in the world, this guy will apologize for. “Do not apologize for things that you haven’t done or are not your fault! It is a sign of weakness!”

    “Ok, I am sorry, Six.”

    (sigh)

    He’s Harmless. There’s absolutely nothing worse in the world than for a guy to be harmless. Can’t even blame his lady for leaving. This guy could get mugged and apologize to the mugger for having his money wadded up in his pockets. He would ‘squeal like a pig” on Deliverance, and apologize for having cheese stains in his shorts.

    So, Harmless has decided that he wants to change his look, grow a beard and get into the gym in hopes that he can attract another woman. We were talking at some outdoor music festival/block party and some young woman overheard me telling him that if he doesn’t change his default setting, it’s all in vain. “Oh…sorry Six.”

    “Sir, are you a Life Coach?”

    Que?

    That’s something I’ve never tried. Well, at least not on purpose. How do the knees feel with 315lbs on the back?

    Got here yesterday and my neighbor had mowed my place and brought over two eighteens of corona.

    They are hard. Very hard. I put 185 on the bar and I maxed out at 5 reps. It takes a suprising amount of coordination and balance to keep proper form while dead squatting. First attempt with just 1 plate I just about fell over backwards trying to get it moving. Once I got the form down it was much easier.

    With the regular squat, that initial negative rep on the way down takes a lot out of you. I find once I hit the bottom I've used up a fair amount of energy keeping control. Trying to power back up again takes every ounce of willpower.

    With the dead squat you get to use that explosive power right out of the gate, then push yourself harder with the negative rep on the way back down.

    With how shaky the legs are even an hour after the workout I feel adding the dead squat is going to be a major game changer for me.

    It's quite interesting how suddenly you make gym buddies when you pull off a huge lift. I go into the gym and at least 1 or 2 people say hi to me when I walk onto the floor now.
