Have you seen any of the many workout things that they’re touting as the future of fitness instead of free weights? Bowflex came out in the 80s, and it sounded good in theory. The thing is, any sort of machine that they can come up with, be it rubber bands or cables, air pumps, whatever… will never be as good as the old fashioned iron. I’m not saying that they won’t or don’t work, I am saying they will never work as well. WHY?

Because you have to physically balance free weights in order to lift them. Yes, any machine can work the big skeletal muscles. But free weights get all of those little stabilizers. When fatigued, we lose stability before we lose strength.

I am going to try the dead squats on the next leg day. Thanks for that.

I tend to use the machines as a "finisher" to really focus in on the target muscle groups once the stabilizing muscles start to fail. Like on leg day I'll finish with leg press and prone curl/leg extensions to squeeze that last little bit out of the hams and quads.

Uh oh..you know what’s coming next? The gym hO@r. Like the barfly at your local watering hole. She’s in the gym because she needs attention from the guys. She sees that your serious about your goals, she’s going to try to see if she can get you off your game with her feminine wiles. Don’t. The quality girls are paying attention and if you give this girl your time and attention, you will never have a shot with one of the decent girls. It’s like banging a sl0t, and ruining any chance with a quality woman.

    I do the same.

A while back you mentioned women approaching you while in the bar lately. I went to the pub a couple weeks back and actually had a bit of a conversation with one of the waitresses. Went back last week and I think I threw her off her game a bit when I addressed her by name. I don't think she expected that.

I’ve met @Rocks before in addition to having numerous phone conversations with her, and make no mistake, she can get fiery when she wants to.

I got a phone call from her one Saturday raising Hell about somebody in the Politics section, and with the Spanish mixed in I could barely understand a word she said. :biggrin_2552:

I suspect what you and Shooter are saying may stem from a fear of wearing out her welcome with us.

I don't think it's possible for @Rocks to wear out her welcome here. She's a gem and I'm sure the vast majority enjoy having her around.

Finally found a good pizza shop in Binghamton, Paul and sons. 2nd generation Italians, they make everything from scratch . All the local places went to crap around here, especially after the start of the plandemic. I used to order out a few times a week from a place 3 miles away but after the last pizza with 2 slices of pepperoni on each slice they won't get my business again. Used to have fantastic food but ever since management changed it went way down hill.
