I relate this to the govt school problem. A friend and I have this conversation literally all the time. I say I homeschool because I don't feel it's another person's place to raise my kids, let alone the govts. He says he raises his kids. So I say do the math. You wake up and are gone before your kids are awake. Then they goto school and they have them for atleast 8 hours. Then you get home at 1730 and hop in the shower then eat. So you see your kids for about 2 to 3 hours before they goto bed. You 2/3 hrs, govt >8hrs. You tell me who is raising them. Then you want to be upset because of the crap they come home with. The govt isn't teaching your morals and standards or language for that matter. Then he defends it because of the social aspect. Where I day school is for learning, which is prolly why we as a nation are so far behind. "Our" kids goto school to socialize and play sports. Which I feel sports has no place in school. You wanna play sports...
Join a team or the ymca. All while other countries (especially asian) value education. So, what does this have to do with what you are talking about you say...simple. I agree with you 100%. However, you have to compete with an incompetent govt school system, ignorant peers, sports, social media, etc, etc, etc. Good luck. My kids have it pretty good. They have everything they want. Do you know how hard it is for us to get their freinds to go places with us? Good luck...and we pay. It is hard to compete with electronics.

Well @AModelCat , I've decided to start collecting tools again. For what I'm paying other people to do, that they aren't doing very well....I'm going to start buying more tools with that money. I just hate working outside. However, for the money I will be saving, it will make the payment on a new shop. Trouble is, everybody is booked our over a year because of all the people moving here. Ugh.

 

I thought so too!! Figured it was noteworthy to show the character of the fine folks working there..

And even though they are short on workers, the blonde working the register, waiting tables, hostess'n, expo'n, with the cute scarlet southern drawl couldn't have been more of a sweetheart. She recommended that pulled pork, brisket, & bacon sandwich..

 

Oh cool!! Spotted the ol' rattle trap strolling down the granny lane eh!? Lol Ended up loading at Ft McCoy in WI with another one..


Thought I was bumping against my 70 for the week so was slow roll'n & gonna call it a 34 there in Monteagle. But won't ya know while at the Dixie diner took a closer look at my comic book, & my math was way off!! So ended up in Cartersville & I got time to make the home 20 tomorrow!! Maybe I should use a calculator next time..

Then seen this guy in the kitty litter dropping off the other side..

 

55% of my property taxes goes to the local school district. One that I have no children attending.
They have been boasting of a goal, that 85% of all students passing all classes.
I am like WTF. This is an improvement from what?
