The hose from air compressor leading to the air tank gets hot. I know compressed air will get hot, but how hot is too hot? I don’t have an infrared gun. I have replaced the small line that runs from the tank, back to the governor, using vinyl/plastic, using zip ties attached to this main air steel braided hose to attach to. Will this small air hose, and zip ties melt?

If you are talking about the braided steel line that comes off of the compressor. It will get hot, this is the reason that it it braided steel. The plastic lines should not get hot.

Zactly! A compressor is putting out 3-4 times what a turbo puts out. Before they used air-to-air, they used aftercoolers to cool the turbo boost. They used engine coolant which meant that 18-30 pounds of boost was worth cooling to 180°. So 120 psi has to be real hot!

It may not melt it, but it will get brittle faster from the heat.

Discharge hoses are rated around 1000*, and 300 psi, buy they are still plastic inside. Obviously a different composition

That’s what I figured, I moved that little return line away from that braided steel hose, routed it under the drivers side, to the back, then over to rear of the air tank instead of the front. Now it’s plenty far away from the hot transmission, the steel braided hose, and the exhaust pipe.
