Sure.... Slamming on the brakes to prove a point to a tailgating vehicle is always the right thing to do!

He didn't know he was there . The officer probably told him he was behind him for 7 miles . Another dumb thing LEO's did is angle their vehicle so they are about a foot into the right lane when they could park at less of an angle and be out of it .

I drive the 10 from San Antonio to Phoenix allot and I have noticed that if a driver does not notice the flashing blue lights he will roll up next to the tractor and motion for the driver to pull over. But yeah I agree they usually are following to close and we cant see them. Thats beyond unsafe.

Just for the record if you brake check a cop for no reason other than he is tailgating you, and he hits you, you are going to lose and in a big way. Intentions to cause a accident is always a good choice.

It's kind of funny I have had more than my share of tickets most here in CA, I have to say the position of the cop behind has never been an issue.

I do agree with decreasing your speed to get a tailgater to go around is a good idea, maybe even flashing your brakelights. But I would refrain from actually braking hard.

I understand there aren't many critters in CA that like to jump out rambo style into the highway, like there is here.

    Is that so ???

To the original poster... Cops lie, and the first one he told you was he had been behind you for 7 or 8 miles.

No way in hell is a LEO going to allow you to ignore him for that length of time.

That said...I have seen drivers do it. By never looking in their mirrors.

brake checking is a real good way to cause a wreck. maybe even some road rage. yeah, if they weren't on your butt, they wouldn't have collided with you. just slow waaaaaay the hell down. slow enough to annoy the hell outta them. if they don't move, i move my ### to either the shoulder for a bit to let them pass, or i take the nearest exit that has a straight-away on-ramp.

Just for the record officers are trained to stop their vehicles at an angle like that so that they have a place to take cover in cast he person they pulled over decides its a good day to die and fires on the officer.

I realize that but leaving part of the vehicle in the traffic lane can get somebody killed also . The ones I have seen have had plenty of room to move further on the shoulder .
