Most companies have a rule against it so it is a non-issue.

There is no such thing as a multi-state carry permit. You have a permit for one state. Other states may choose to reciprocate. I live in FL. I think we reciprocate with 32 states. So what happens if I go through/to one of the other 16? I'm SOL.

I don't see any point in risking jail time just to carry a gun I don't need. I've been told by many experienced drivers that there are only two weapons I can legally have with me at all times: my truck and a mallet. Works for me.

    You can also have...

    A hammer
    A breaker bar
    A flashlight
    Your feet and hands
    Bags of pennies
Hand grenades that do not have a warhead in them (should make the attack need a new pair of underwear)
    Truck parts
    Chains

the list goes on and on...

Those statistics are skewed by the anti-gun lobby. Did you know that those statistics include suicide and attempted suicide? Purposeful self inflicted gunshot wounds are in fact 90% of those hurt by their own weapon. The driver in Moreno Valley California who was shot and killed recently didn't think he needed a weapon. The driver shot and killed for $7 whom a new bill in congress is named after didn't think he would need a weapon. The list can go on and on. A weapon is only a catalyst to a bad situation if it is used improperly. A gun should only be drawn in defense of human life or to prevent great bodily harm.

And wasn't the driver killed shot through the windshield and probably didn't know the shooter was there! So even if he had a gun it would have done him no good! If he did do you not think he would have tied to duck below the dash? Then the shooter would have brought a gun to a truck fight! I'd have tried my darnedest to run his arse over!

hwydrifter, then use a 4 cell mag light. Its still going to hurt! I have one next to my drivers seat.

If tire thumpers are illegal, thump your tires with something else.

And if you have a group of rice burners pull up next to you all with the same tires, run them off the road before they get in front of you and put a harpoon through your passenger seat to hijack your truck. Like in that one movie. It's obvious that this happens on a daily basis. but only to guys hauling dvd players.

I know this topic has been beat to death in the past.. If you are going to throw up anything as being illegal couldn't you post your proof to go allong with it to add clout to your conversation?

Like tire thumpers being illegal.. 6 cell flashlights are illegal in CA. Where did these statements come from, by who? The coffee table at the truckstop? My other link stopped working for some reason or another.. Too bad it used to be a great site for state info.. I just found this one and can't vouch for it's accuracy, I haven't had the opprotunity to play around with it..

For years ther have been debates from the anti's about CCW permits vs rights.. The argument can't be resolved here.. Our best defense is to be well informed. Know the pro's and con's of carrying. It's your life, your the one that is going to have to live with the consequeses of your actions.

Just be prepared to "pay the piper" if and when you use your weapon.. Carrying does not make you invinsible, using that vast wasteland that seperates your ears is a much better way in my opinion. Chances are your not going to be anywhere near your weapon when it is needed.. If it's 100 degrees outside.. your wearing shorts and a Tank Top shirt... Your delivering in Pheonix, or Compton, CA.. U pick.. where are you going to carry now.. It would be better to just use your head and avoid any situation that might be threatening.. Don't sight see, get in and then get out fast, don't BS.. too easy..

I am not a anti.. I own lots of guns.. I have had a CCW for most of my life.. (since I was 21..) I never had to pull my gun on anyone in all those years.. I also spent 13 years in the military (in combat arms positions not pushing a pencil.. infantry, USMC Marine Security Forces, Artillery..Yes, I did use my weapon on someone here..) I went to college 2yrs. for criminal justice.. Carrying is a huge responcibility.. You only have 1 chance to get it right, there are no "do-overs".. I've been driving for years as well.. With the stupidity on the road and the CB can you imagine how screwed up things would be if some of these drivers were armed?? Enough said.. I won't preach any more. I get excited when I see so much disinformation, and rumors.. Don't belive everything you hear or read on a forum is all I have to say.. Research it yourself!!

In the cases I referenced neither one of the drivers were shot through the windshield. In both cases the drivers were parked. I could beat this subject to death with reasons to carry but it's already been done. It boils down to personal choice. Do you feel comfortable enough to do it? I for one do.
