I love this topic this thread. Good night all. Sure are a lot of parking you have to pay for now. My goodness. I wish some of the farmers would clear a nice place with a row of outdoor toilets, and charge $5 my goodness what a rip off from TA/Petro. Most companies don't want you to park on ramps either. No parking and no parking on ramps. Well goodnight.

10+ years out here and I have never parked on a ramp.
And only a few rest areas.
No end caps, seldom side of a road (maybe twice).

I tend to turn down loads if I can't determine that I will have a decent parking spot at the end of my day.

Paying for a spot is not usually a problem for me. It does keep many drivers out of there, and I can be assured of a place to park on those later delivery days.
It is after 9PM here, and there are still many open spaces. It has usually been over-full by now.

I have done that many times, side streets, and shippers and consignee's as well. I have those cones you see behind the lineman's truck. Put it behind the Trailer, close to the fog line, or streetside. It has strips of reflective tape also. I have a nice sleep, then fire up and head out. Take it easy, have a good day.

So you watch your stocks, and they went down a bit for a day or two. Now they are back up.
What did the watching gain you?
Bad on the first end, and better on the back end - at least for your state of mind.

But, if you had invested even more money in those stocks when they were low, you would be that much more ahead today.
But then, you have no way of knowing which way it will go from day to day.

So what is the point of watching it at all on a day to day basis?
It is like weighing yourself on a daily basis, and adjusting how you eat or do things based on small fluctuations that mean nothing in the end.

    dptrucker and dwells40 Thank this.

Fargo, ND, and I finally was able to get a shower.
    Hooray!

A Costco load out of Owatonna got me here, and I am so sick of Owatonna Costco loads.
They can't snag enough dedicated drivers so they are always way over on loads, and it seems I always get stuck getting routed there.
From here the only likely load is going back to Owatonna, which is often more mt miles than loaded.

I turned down a couple loads to get the times I wanted, because they like to plan such tight loads.
Too many of them only allow for a strict 10 hour break, with no drive time breaks. No consideration for on the road slow downs like construction, accidents, a pee break or to eat.
That planner in Owatonna is merciless, but so am I . I WILL get the times I want or I will not do it.

I feel sorry for the drivers that run that account, because they probably have little choice in how they run.
Rush to get there and then rush to get back, only to rush to the next one and repeat.
