1987 379 Peterbilt air conditioning information needed

its an 87 so theres gonna be more involved than just adding refrigerant. can you even get r12 anymore

 

they dont even make freon anymore

 

yes. theres a freon alternative. just convert fittings over. did you flush lines with a citrus flush.

I’m sure it’s been converted to 134a. I haven’t seen an R-12 system in years. Easy way to decide is if it has the 134 fittings or R-12. Low side will be on right side firewall in a line. High side is any ones guess as lines are sometimes made from cut to fit hoses at parts stores and could have been moved anywhere to get the guy cool that day. It’s usually in the discharge or smaller of the two lines off the compressor. They are also a different size so no messing it up so to speak
