PA DOT working it hard today up north near hazelton. Both coops open and DOT bears all over that area. Even one sitting at the bottom of the ramp for PA rte 309 going to mountain top. Guessing that is why Love's was #### near full 1330 in the afternoon today at exit 90, everybody scared of the DOT, lol! Was here over the weekend and this Love's was wide open then 1330 in the afternoon. Looks like they were only bothering drivers with old looking equipment though.

Busy day in the great state of California today. Got my 2 drops off without a hitch then started the final leg up to Portland for tomorrow morning. I had the dubious distinction of traversing this state for 975 miles, and crossing 6 inspection stations. Night before last I was thinking that with all those inspection stations, my chances of getting pulled in was pretty good. And I was right. Got pulled into the Cordelia inspection station and was given the arrow for door 5. 30 minutes later, out the door with the first Level 1 sticker on this new truck and one on the trailer. I got my reload info yesterday late. I drop these 3 coolers off at a Trader Joe’s in Portland, then at the same store, pick up 1 cooler that was shipped 2 weeks ago that was the wrong one. So I get to ride 2900 miles with 1200 pounds in the trailer. I was going to do a reset out here but got the ok to drop this trailer in Richmond on Tuesday. Then I’ll reset and do this again. Right now I’m sitting in the rest area at Weed taking my 10. 2:30 am will be here rather quickly.

So my easy day has now turned into a joke. Left the Weed California rest area at 2:30 this morning. I had a 355 mile drive, plus a fuel stop in Medford. Got to the delivery at 9am sharp. This was a construction zone in a strip center that was being completely remodeled. The only slight hiccup was that I was on the blindside on the street, so I had to have the crew that was there to unload me spot for me. Thank goodness the foreman was an ex driver, he kept me in his eyesight the whole time. The really big issue was the Starbucks in the same small shopping plaza. As we all know, don’t hold up any Starbucks drinker, they get irate. So I get parked in the middle of the center inside the portable construction fencing, get unloaded in 30 minutes then put the cooler in that is going back to Richmond. Sign all the paperwork and drive to the TA in Troutdale. My planning was all put into place last night. No reset since I was told I could get back to Richmond Tuesday where I plan on doing a reset in order to turn around next Thursday and do another turn. So, I park today with 38 minutes left on my 70, have it planned that I will use my 3:15 minutes I pick up tonight at midnight to get to the Arrowhead in Pendleton then head out early Friday with 10.5 hours every day until I get back. Sounded good. At 8:30 tonight, I get a QC message, the builder and Trader Joe’s have decided they will keep the cooler and use it. Now I have to go back and drop it off, and get to relive the irate Starbucks crowd yet again. So now I’m hoping I can reload close by tomorrow and still use my plan of attack. If not, then I’ll be here another day, which will turn into a day of layover.

I don't like pulling containers, because there's no such thing as a container chassis in this world without something wrong with it. Oh well. I get paid the same per day no matter how much time I spend inspecting them, rigging the handles that release the pins with zip ties, and driving slow and smooth with tons of following distance, and taking my time on curves and ramps.

If I was on mileage pay I'd probably tell them I don't pull containers. It's not like we're in a world where everybody doesn't have more freight they can handle, put me on something else.

Brought the cooler back this morning where I picked it up at yesterday. The Starbucks crowd was there waiting for me. Uneventful except for the pinhead that tried walking under my trailer as I was backing up on the blindside. I stopped the truck, jumped out and asked him if that Starbucks coffee he was holding was worth the effort of crawling under a moving trailer. In the most profound PNW response, he told me I shouldn’t be in the parking lot with such a big vehicle. What a colossal jackoff. Had my reload sitting on the QC when I got back in the truck. 105 miles south of me loading in Junction City. Loaded here before, in and out in 30 minutes. Montgomery AL Tuesday morning, Suwannee GA Tuesday at noon.

I think I've spent 95% of my entire trucking career with a lit Check Engine light.
