Being the tightwad I am, today I got a used iPhone 7 128GB off eBay. The phone cost $105. I have it all changed over and noticed the battery health was at 87%. Apple and Best Buy both will install a new battery for $49. The iPhone 7 is getting a bit old. Right now I am using this phone as my primary phone. Have not fully decided yet what I am going to do. What would you do?

It doesn’t need to be replaced. Mine is at 87% and it’s a year old

How do you determine battery health? Btw. I’m considering an iPhone 11. My iPhone 6 is getting tired.

It will be fine. I had a galaxy S5 up till last year with a battery at 52% that still got most of a day off the charger. Typically you dont need to replace a battery until you either have major issues or the lack of charge becomes a problem.

I plan to purchase a new iPhone 11/12 next fall. This means there is a good chance I won't replace the battery in this iPhone 7. The battery health is simply the amount of current over time a battery can deliver! A new battery can deliver so much and over time this amount of current gets less and less. This can be found in the iPhone settings/battery. This is what it looks like on my iPhone.

Quit being a tightwad and buy a factory refurb 2 year old model from mfgr, pay the money for an otterbox, phone should last 3-5 years depending on abuse.

3 phones, 10 years, but current one is only 4 months old
