This is the same water separator that came on my 3406e in a pete so I know it's good enough for an n14 in a 9400 international

Looks like the FS 1000 I run

Hello, I know this thread is very old but I’m having this issue as of recently. I had the exact setup you have here and I had issue with trucking starting and dying, also wouldn’t draw fuel from the second tank for some reason. I had to bypass all of this and connect to just 1 tank on drivers side in order for the truck to continue running.
I’m now trying to fix all of this and I’m wondering. Which is input and output on the old separator? I also see you have the retrofitted new one which I think I’m going to do being as this part is obsolete. I have a spin on filter already at the fuel pump, and I’ve tried running all new lines to try and get it to draw from the second tank and it won’t even draw at all, I’m starting to think if this part is necessary at all in order for the second tank to work properly? As it’s pretty elevated (near washer fluid tank).
I do apologize for the long post but I’m scratching my head at this one. Does the fuel lines running have to be elevated this high? Is this whole setup necessary?
ANY input is appreciated. Truck is 1996 International 9400 with a N14 Cummins. -
First off , I made changes again. Honestly having fuel run to the hot side of the motor is a terrible idea. I removed the primary napa filter and ran straight to an fs1000 or Baldwin 1259 they are both designed specifically for the cummins application. Second follow your fuel lines and see where they go. That will tell you which is supply from tank and to secondary filter.
If you choose to simply eliminate this primary filter always carry a spare filter in your truck.
I would replace your fuel splitters for supply and return sides. You can blow compressed air thur your tank check valves to see if they are plugged. -
Thank you for the message. I didn’t think you’d see it. Do you have a picture of what it looks like now? The issue I’m having is I bypassed it entirely because there was a rust hole in the old separator. Doing that, truck wouldn’t start unless I hooked directly into the driver side tank and run a separate return line. I did run all new hoses to try and remedy it by getting a new T fitting for the suction side of the whole setup and the hoses are bone dry after disconnecting them, since it just kept cranking. If I hook backup to the bypassed setup, it works but only 1 tank drawing. Sorry if it’s confusing but I’m so lost on this issue with the passenger side tank not drawing fuel. I’m thinking if it’s a elevation issue with the lines or if the passenger side tank is used at all for suction or just primary driver side tank. I do thank you for your reply.

All I have currently attached. From this fitting above the front of the transmission to the ecm cooler then the fs1000

Okay, I have this also.. did you eliminate that Napa separator combo? Also, is that fitting in the center there special or just a normal T?
-
Just totally disconnected napa setup. Underneath that fitting is a splitter. The dealer sells them. Call the dealer and see what fuel splitters are available for your vin. Replace them.

Thanks! I’ll try calling them tomorrow and see my options. Again, thank you!
