Most drivers coming to our plant seem to know where to go, especially for shipping pickups. But a few check in with deliveries & Security will send them to various areas, , then no one is there to help them. I’ve talked to a few guys & walked them around trying to find the right people. I know this frustrates any driver, especially if he has other stops to go to. I think any company should give drivers at least one name & phone number, not just a company name. I had similar struggles as a service electrician. Got a work order to a WalMart. Took over an hour to find who had called us. Place had more managers than workers it seemed. I fussed at our dispatcher to always get a specific name.

How much of this do you guys see out & around?

I see it all the time, it’s poor management. I do multiple stops and always get wrong addresses and phone numbers to people who don’t even know anything about the freight I have. It’s usually the sales reps that don’t do there jobs

Anytime I have a pick up or delivery, I pull the place up on Google maps, get a satellite view of the place and then read the comments. Lots drivers, including me, list the procedures and must do's to get to the right area. The comments are like gold. Usually though, there is a number in the trip plan to call, along with detailed directions to get you to the front gate, sometimes it's a good number, other times it forwards to another state and is not even relevant to the facility.
