I think the more the better . If only one thread was posted it would sound like a unique experience . But when more and more confirm the scenario it should be fair warning to wannabes .
If you don't want to read threads about USX orientation don't read threads titled as such .

Years back I did an orientation for USX in Tunnel Hill Georgia, not that great - but not that bad either.
No - orientation is not paid - as with many companies (and probably many more as the economy drags)
If you fail to finish 90 days they will bill you for orientation costs - travel, hotel, drug screen, etc ... again - this is becoming more common.
This is a "newbie" company and it shows by their policy's - as most newbies quit in the first 90 days.
Trucks available on site - staff was friendly enough.
You will run NYC on dedicated - and the pay is very low.
If security is important please don't wait till your "flat broke" to move to another company, or get started in this industry.
Take your vehicle to orientation, have cash on hand, choose an orientation close to home if possible (why anyone would travel hundreds of miles for a so-so job is beyond me) and search around - don't even think about all those mags in the truck stops - the best jobs don't advertise.
If you can't "map out" your future and that of your career - how will you ever succeed in trucking?
Move on - forget about complaining - it won't change anything.TruckDuo and TruckerGsch Thank this. -
Sorry to beat an old horse ...

I'v read on here several post about guys who said they "Quit" and then later found out the company claimed they were fired. And in the interest of turning this thread into a usefull thread instead of a repeat about bad orientations... I talked to someone who is knowledgeable in this area. Her advice to me was the following. #1. Never, Ever, terminate orally. I.E. Walk in and say you quit. As hard as this is, don't do it. If possible, prepare a short letter (with your employers name on it, and with your name as well, AND DATE!), and deliver it to them. Ask them to sign it. Most won't but it is worth the try. Then make a copy! Even better, if time permits, send it via registered mail, or send them a copy via registered mail with in two business days (if they won't sign the original) My understanding is, if you can prove! (and having your buddy say he was there won't cut it) that you terminated properly. Then if they claim othewise you have grounds for legal action. Also, if they claim that they terminated you. Then I would suggest talking to the local count, or state labor board. But if you just walked out!, or abandoned the truck. Be aware that they have the right to report it on your history. That is why it is best to do it in WRITING! Be prepared! She said! most Carriers aren't used to a driver being this smart, and may react coldly, or refuse to do anything. Thats o.k. As long as you leave the letter there, and send a copy via Registerd Mail with in a couple of days. This alone.. she said,, is usually enough, to tell them your not the typical dumb but driver.. and they will be VERY carefull what they say on your history!

I got terminated for bumping a container (no damage) by a big carrier that uses DAC. I have a question, I'm trying to get back on with an o/o who is leased on with Swift. Judging by the application I have to fill out, will I be shot down by Swift, even though my boss is the o/o? I drove for him before and he was happy with me as a driver.

Are you going in as a company driver or are you doing the 1 year lease? I hope things work out for you and keep us posted on your progress and maybe start a thread giving us regular updates.
