Yes he did. The first thing he said when first asked about this was that it was about the flag. People have since tried to rehabilitate his image but that is what he first said.

 

No he was protesting police brutality, which he and others have said ad nauseam.Nobody ever said anything about the flag. That's just what the "patriotic" want to focus on.

For me it’s the hypocrisy in everything they do. Lebron will try and ruin a cop’s life with a single tweet before he has all the information, offers no apology, and he and the NBA just act like China doesn’t exist. If all these things happening in this country are so terrible then how can they continually overlook human rights violations in China? Why won’t the NBA cut ties with the country?

And then you also have them trying to push false narratives. Like Space Jam 2 was a flop because of systemic racism at the box office. Space Jam 1 wasn’t a flop, but Lebron can’t even entertain the idea that maybe people just liked Jordan more than they like him. Nope can’t be that, it’s racism.

Maybe people would have more respect for them in general if they put their money where their mouth is. But if they truly cared about human rights that would mean they’d have no uniforms to play in and they wouldn’t have shoes on their feet.
