Suggestions on why it seems like the coolant temp won't come down when setting still? Idled up with the fan on it still takes a significant amount of time for it to come down.

Running empty down the road it seems to come down pretty quickly.

I figure that's part of it. Idk if maybe it's not getting good flow through the radiator or the pump isn't doing well. Idk.

You ever check to see if rear water pump housing was steel or aluminum?

    I agree.
I would recommend the safety course. The little figure 8’s and slow speed maneuvers and the friction zone on the clutch is what you really want to learn.

Now, I went to the safety course, passed and got my M endorsement and was running the highways and streets. Dropped the bike doing a U. Twisted my knee.
My brother came over to ride with me, but instead of hitting the streets, he took my dumb arse to a big parking lot to practice the slow speed maneuvers. THEN, it clicked. The controls for the slow speed stuff…it clicked all of a sudden and then I had it. If someone had to me to stay in a parking lot and do figure 8s, I would have heard them, but not listened. When it clicks in your mind, suddenly doing figure 8s becomes easy. Then, you’re ready for the road.

You know how you truck down the road reading traffic? Invaluable skill on a bike. Just like the trucking biz, you don’t just want to ride, you want to be a good rider. You will notice that many people who have been riding for years have really bad habits…like duck walking or foot dragging. Or not turning their head. Or not looking far enough down the road.

For a couple yrs now I feel like I keep spinning my wheels but going almost nowhere... Some of that is my own "fault"... I don't have a clear idea of where I want to go... :biggrin_25523:
Which is not new.. this has been the story of my life...
I take way toooooooo long to make decisions... and time doesn't wait... :biggrin_25512:
So now here I am... "old" enough to know what I want, where I want to go... and I still have no idea...
This can be frustrating... But as I heard someone saying one time, I am a "work in progress"...

I couldn't agree more with you. There is alot of shared skills between the two. To bad more people don't apply them to car driving also. I like to think I conduct myself the same in anything.

The riders course is a great idea. I've never took one. But not opposed to. You can always learn something.

I would really like to take a advanced auto class on say a road course. Just because. It would be fun and educational.
