    Good Afternoon,

We've got about 10 mixer/crane/daycab trucks here, looking for some recommendations on what to get for software diagnostics. Mixed fleet- 3 - MX 13's, 2 - ISX's, a C-13, a C-12, and some older M-11's. We don't do a lot of heavy engine work ourselves, but need something to diagnose engine lights and emission issues etc. Has anyone tried the PF Diagnose from diesel laptops?

They seem to think it will do most of what we need. They do sell TEXA also, but I think that's maybe a bit overkill for what we are looking for? Or what are your thoughts. Other software we should be looking at?
    Thanks.

I spent 8k on Diesel Laptops. For diagnostics only I think you might be better served with other options. Are there no OEM Programs you can get? Fleets are usually offered them.

Ok, well maybe our fleet is a little too mixed breed to get any offers. I'll have to do some calling around and see. We've actually only bought 2 of them new from the dealer.
Which product did you get from Diesel Laptops? Do you use their troubleshooting guides at all (Knowledgebase 2.0, DTC)? The salesman seems to think they are top notch. :biggrin_2559:

    It will be expensive.

I would buy my own laptop and usb link. Purchase Davie, Insite and CAT ET and install them yourself. This is the only way you will get full function and testing capabilities out of each truck. Everything else will fall short.

This is what Diesel Laptops does.........and then charges for it in there total price.

Buy two refurbished laptops for $400.00. Get genuine Nexiq USB2 link. Get DAVIE legit and put on one. Buy bootleg Cat and Cummins, should be less than $100 for each, can find for free if look hard enough. ABS and dash controller programs can be found cheaply also. Put those on other computer.

Ok, we've got an old CF Toughbook here, so I'll maybe get a Nexiq and go from there. I've gathered there are a lot of cloned Nexiq's out there also.

Davie 4 has a mandatory subscription, is that right? Diesel laptops sells it, but where is the best place to purchase that through? Inland KW? That's our dealer. Are there different levels of Davie 4? Fleet and Dealer Level?

Go through dealer, $1800 is usual asking price (Paccar charges dealer $1200). They will have minium computer requirements. Works better on windows 10 machine. We bought cheaper dell and works great. Does everything fleet needs and can do software updates. Go genuine Nexiq. Put pirated on one laptop like your CF, genuine on another. With Paccar, get setup with Fleet eportal. Will be able to look up your parts, wiring diagrams, and access to RMI which is all service information for the MX engines (it's like Quickserve).

I will check into that a bit more. I never realized they had the eportal option was available to us. Would be very handy, especially as the trucks age a bit.

Inland quoted me $1400 CAD, so that sounds pretty fair. He said though, that there was no subscription, I thought that there was.

Also, we do have one MX13 that has had an DEF delete on it. The way I understand is you can use the Davie 4 on those, just make sure not too update it?

    Thanks for all the help.

No subscription on DAVIE, one time fee. Don't update software on deleted one. Crappy part is you can't change parameters if deleted, only can be done by hackers. Not a fan of deletes. Nothing to do with the action, just the fact most all are hack jobs.

Ok, that's good to know. Ya this one was actually deleted by a truck center that is a Peterbilt dealer. Manager does deletes with his own "division" outside of the dealership. So I can't say how it rates on the hack job scale, but we have not had any issues with it.

We will probably go that route then. Is there a reason you would want to put the ET and INSITE on a separate laptop? Not a huge investment for another cheap laptop, but just curious.

    Thanks for al your help/recommendations.
