Hi guys and girls, quick question I have a 3406b cat 350hp 7fb the fuel water seperator has 2 ends once says “in” other says “out” which line goes to which currently I have the lift pump fuel hose connected on the “out” and the Fuel hose that comes from the main tank on the “in” is that correct? Also does it matter which side I run it?

Pretty sure the B line from the tank went to the pump, filter head, then injection pump. Looks that way in your picture too.
Edit: yes, from water separator to lift pump would be "out". To tank would be "in".Roger McG and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Ok I appreciate that just making sure because they look cross cross instead of the tank line going straight into the “out” it loops around to the other side which is the “in” I thought it might be out of placeRoger McG, Rideandrepair and Oxbow Thank this.

nope that looks right I never understood why Peterbilt set the filters up that way but that is right
-
I
Yea right it through me off lol you mind me asking how you ran your plumbing? I’m trying to get it to look cleaner but can’t figure out how to do it lolRoger McG Thanks this. -
there really isn't a whole ton you can do with the screen filter as far as turning the filter around to smarten it up
-
Ok yea that’s why I was asking if I could reverse the lines to make it look cleaner but they probably set it that way for a reason so I bet I can’t do that no worries I appreciate the help though fellas
-
no I know what youre thinking but you swap the lines around it defeats the filter. If it was a spin on filter base you unbolt them and turn them around take the elbow from the inlet and add a straight fitting to remove a little flow restriction but that isnt the case with the screen filter. But keep in mind the screen filter carries less restriction than the spin on filter I have found
-
Oh ok yea that was something I thought about changing the whole housing but just for some crooked style fittings it’s not worth it and especially like you said with the restrictions I’ll Stick with this
Roger McG Thanks this. -
I think if you tried to turn the filter around you would have to space it out from the frame 3 or 4 inches from the frame making it look hokey and and defeat trying to neaten how things look
