now i am very familure with what your talking about, the new breed of driver out here is different they dont no what respect is or work for that matter they all or most just want to be pretty and on top of that they are all lawyers with an attitude but all are not some are realy out here to learn and make a living as im sure you are aware and they not only get smart mouth with you but with other drivers when they try to help or correct them, one such driver i ran across in a truck stop, he was trying hard to convince a new driver that federal law makes it illegal to have a weapon in a truck i advised him in a nice way that no such law exsist it was repealed in 1968 and was now left up to each state, the guy jumped up and wanted to fight or he just thought he did.
but all of are not like that and although it annoyes me to no end i think most of the new drivers are decent guys.
now im not a big fan of the DOT or the laws they have to enforce , not the officer but i do think any man deserves respect encluding you guys.
i no somtimes it may be hard but try not to judge us all buy the actions of a few.
stay safe and the very best to you and yours this holliday season.----southernpride![]()

Left up to each state is just as well to have banned them, for a otr truck driver anyways. If the government cant do one thing to get what they want done theyll do another accomplishing it just the same
-
Just to clarify for a few of you. Some have commented about written and verbal warnings. Some have wondered why they did not receive a verbal warning? With my Agency and many other's, verbal warnings are no longer permitted. If we get caught by the administration giving verbal warnings, we can get charged administratively and face a suspension or termination. There are many reasons for this, some you may understand and some you may not. For most Agencies, you will receive some form of paper for a traffic enforcement contact. Remember with a warning, it is just that, a warning. No points and no fine and not charged with anything. So a warning is not that bad. If you get an inspection, he inspection report form has all of the violations that were discovered, thus making the carrier aware of the violations.
-
actually, those written warnings are jsut as bad as an actual ticket to some companies. I have a friend who lost his job after getting 6 of those in two years without ever getting an actual ticket. -
Hey, "diesel bear".
[Hypothetical Question]
I am a swift driver just startin out and I just ran a scale house by accident what do I do now?
-
Yea I got wrote a ticket for speeding in a 30mph zone(which wasn't a 30
mph zone) numbers on the sign might have said that but you can paint
anything on a metal sign right?
If it means writing more tickets?
Writing tickets to ppl that forgot the city judge lowered the original safe speed limit to a posted revenue collecting 30,
not realizin theyre doin anything wrong..CUZ theyre not!! I bet the judge or cop says..well you shoulda been payin attention to the
posted speed limit..No you shoulda been payin attention to your limit of speed you post. THIEVES!
I shoulda known though. I was wonderin why everyone was goin so #### slow
that fat little punk cop had everybody in the whole town scared to death theyd get a ticket.
Boy I tell ya..lol
He tells me, well I think how fast you were goin in a big truck was just a
little bit too much. Im like thinkin, you? a city cop..are going to tell me
how fast you think I need to be going? In a big truck? Like Im not fully
aware of my responsibilities, capabilities, weight, power, stopping distance and
force of my truck. Not to mention surroundings and traffic pattern. Like im not aware
of the implications and seriousness of getting in an accident. You think im going to compromise
my career or someone elses life by being un responsible and goin an unsafe speed?
Oh really? ok write me the ticket then you revenue collectin pansy.
When im on a west virginia cut back loaded down with 47k lbs of copper..I dont need mr. city police tellin
me about safe speeds in a big truck. Whats a safe speed mr? here you take the wheel.
Whats that?..you dont know a #### thing about big trux?
Ima big boy, I can take care of myself. I dont need my big brother watchin out for me.

or stealing my allowance for that matter.
im not sayin what u dot's do is revenue collecting, there
has to be regulation set in place for these heavy things, as well as enforcement. i understand that but speed traps aint right!

Pucker up hard and hope to hell that they didn't see you. There really isn't a whole lot you can do.
NE has weigh in motion. Sign said I was good to roll. I rolled and in a few minutes had a DOT cop stopping me and giving me a ticket.
Some you win, some you don't.
If you miss a scale what are you going to do? Stop on the shoulder and walk back???A512 Thanks this. -
Hope they didn't see you! -
Show of hands for drivers who "accidentally" ran a coop before......
Come on...don't be shy....... -
Never, PrePass ran me into a closed IN coop onetime, though. I haven't had PrePass in several years now, 2005 was the last time. To be honest, I rarely go by a scale anymore, though, they just aren't on the routes we take except 1 east of Worthington, MN and that is 1 or 2(sometimes no) trips for me about every 2 to 2.25 months.
