Mine has a straight fitting, whereas the Celect + engines have a 90* fitting. Is there a check valve in the straight fitting?there is a 90* fitting on back of the pump.

Not all N14's had a check valve. Yours doesn't appear to.

So, does having the straight fitting denote, “no fitting”? Is that a check valve(90* fitting) on back of my pump?

I've never seen a check valve at the pump, but it's possible. I just looked, and they did make a straight check valve for the ECM cooler plate.

Just takes a minute to find out. You having a long crank issue?

I haven’t ran this truck in over a month and I started it the other day and it fired up immediately but then died. Took longer than usual to get it started again but after it ran awhile, then it’d start up as soon as I bumped the key. It will do this every time if the truck sits for a day. I changed the fuel filter and it was very dirty. If there’s a check valve in that fitting I’ll pull it but was just wondering cause this fitting is fairly short.

Here's a straight check valve. I often find material stuck in the check valve holding them open. Yes, they are still short. s-l400-1.jpg

Should I just disassemble, check if debris is in there and if so, replace it or just clean it. Can it being dirty weaken the spring?

I'd pull it and see if it is a check valve, and if so look for debris

I’m gonna remove the fuel line and if there’s a check valve in the fitting it should restrict a very small screw driver from going through. Correct?

The resistance will be very light.
