HA! That's exactly why I did it, didn't pan out that way. Turned out, I was a "company driver " with my own truck. And not sure your situation, but life today is all about money and even as an O/O, you have to kiss someones rear end to get paid.
Rates are coming down

Every other month, you start a thread about rates that suck. This time, you even say that it was for the last couple of weeks.
What do you want to get? Give us an example of why you say so...are you supposed be at $8 000-10 000 on 2000 miles every week to be happy?
Is it because you post your truck and wait for them to beg you pull a load for whatever you quote?
I pull dry van and do the unsophisticated load board freight, including click and go. I finished July with over 30K and this month already in 14K or revenue on 4 500 miles and I don't think it is bad based on what I saw in the past.
As far as I am concerned, the last few weeks are as good as any other this year. So I don't know why you are bringing such news.
I would not mind a little cool down to have an opportunity to slow down. The more the good time roll, the bitter and longer down cycle will be too, as it will take some time for all that capacity to melt down to the point of stabilization. This is not it yet.Jarhed1964, Trucker61016, Speed_Drums and 18 others Thank this. -
I haven’t really felt any slow down in rates or freight for that matter. Granted I have slacked off from May to July only working Monday to Thursday. This has been a great year for me and I have been fortunate to save everything for when rates slowdown. That’s to be expected, everyone buying overpriced equipment will be hurting (my .02) when that time comes.
One would think, bust your tail now and when things drop off drastically, you can be the carrier to sit tight and wait for that premium “last minute” load.Trucker61016, Speed_Drums, Vampire and 1 other person Thank this. -
Being an owner op isn't for everybody.

If you can't find a good paying flat load out of Ohio the best advice I can give ya is just sell your truck and go back to being a company hand.
Last week was my best week of the year and this week is shaping up to be another great one.
I figured it was a matter of time before the I won't do this, or I won't do that , or I won't go here or I won't go there crowd started to complain.
These guys won't tarp, won't haul anything that weighs more than 10k, won't chain, but wanna play flatbedders.

Just booked two loads running me from tomorrow AM and delivering 2nd load Monday morning.
Both brokers were very willing to negotiate posted rates.
All goes well and those two loads will gross 13k in 6 days.Jarhed1964, Trucker61016, Vampire and 1 other person Thank this. -
If rates are going down, then I must be getting better at negotiating, because I haven't seen any change.
