It has come to my attention that a driver with a certain company was "shut down" at a weigh station in Va. He was caught for being 2300 lbs over gross and after running a check on his license, it was discovered that he was driving under a suspended license. He was just recently hired by this company and there are several questions that are troubling me.

1-If this driver's license was in suspension, how was this missed doing the DMV search of his record.

2-If his license had not been suspended when he was hired, which is a possibility, does a state suspend a license without notifying the driver?

3-Can a driver's license be suspended without the driver's knowledge?

I worked for a company that hired a driver that showed a clean MVR . A few months later they rented trucks from Ryder and when Ryder ran his MVR it showed his license suspended . He had received no notification . It was from a 2 year old ticket in NY he thought he had taken care of . He had paid the ticket but was not aware of a reinstatement fee . Some states are slow about putting suspensions in the national system . I helped him try to take care of it . He called NY and tried to send the fees Western Union . Couldn't do it . All kinds of red tape that took 2 weeks to resolve .

My license was suspended ounce, because we moved to another State and the insurance company did not notify Florida they had coverage on my wife’s car. The Dmv did not say anything, A lady in the office told me I had a problem with my license, I never knew anything was wrong. I did call the insurance company .. the I called them on the phone and they corrected the problem. I have never had a ticket…

My license is current right now--unless I go to california. I have an unpaid ticket from there, and it was issued to me- but company said they paid it. Company lied. This occurred in 2001, I just found out. I'm making monthly payments.
However, if any other state runs my license, nothing shows up.. The great and wonderful CDL program was suppose to end these problems, that was in 1992 I think !!!

Other states show it as having a hold on the license, meaning that I can't renew. Believe me I checked REAL good, didn't want any surprises !!!!!!!

Things change and so do the rules. I would suggest clearing it up before the first of the year.

This was a big ticket and not easily paid off. My license is/was not suspended at any time. Thanks for all the advice.
