I never once had a problem. None of the other drivers I worked with did either.
Just use common sense and reasoning is all it takes.
One driver had a boat on the rear slide off and hit the pavement on an exit ramp. He didn't check securement and admitted it.
Always check securement after stopping somewhere.
Even after a quick restroom stop at a rest area, I'd do a walk-around and make sure all securement straps are in place and kick the trailer tires checking for flats or blowouts.

Health insurance for the driver and family is free with YRC/Yellow.

For now. All of those union benefits are already starting to change. Competition is fierce in this industry. Freight pays what freight pays. As soon as the taxpayers are no longer forced to subsidize these bloated corrupt unions, those benefits will disappear.

I know, but even free health insurance for a few years gives a driver some financial breathing space in the short term.

May want to talk with Freightworks. They're in NC. They are somewhat diversified. They may have something that could work for you. I think the town is Rutherfordton.

That sign on bonus won't be money up front. You can bank on that!

    You shouldn’t have a problem.
I work for a 20 something trucking company. 56 cents a mile. Stop, detention, layover pay. I took home $4,000 the first two weeks of this month
