Last week i picked up 7583 from the Reno volvo plant it had such a bad tire you just cant miss it, the load was going to WM so i took a calculated risk to drive it to WM and drop it in the shop there, before indian springs the tire explodes...now i took another calculated risk to drive it to TA in Vegas, a local cop noticed the tire pulls me over and goes "you cant drive like that i will escort you to indian springs and you have to call someone there to come and fix it" so now i am driving with the cop behind me with his lights, a good samaritan in a pick up assumed i am running from the cop...speeds up moves in front of us and hits the breaks i hit my breaks and the tire next to the blown tire explodes...didnt get a ticket somehow but i didnt make it to indian springs and it took 20hrs for breakdown to send a road service..

Freight out of RVA is a little sketchy. Had a 525 mile load that delivered in Dublin GA on MONDAY mid day. Mind you, I got that load assignment FRIDAY. Did I call dispatch? You betcha. And biotched about it, too. Did I get a different load? LOL - No. Yes, there were one or two options. None of which would’ve gotten me many more miles than what I had or gotten me home on time for my home time. So, I kept the load, which was to be picked up by a local driver and brought to the yard from a company that is closed on the weekend.
I figured that I’d get up this morning, go get some groceries and then head on out-just to get off the yard. BUT, something told me to call dispatch before I went shopping. Sure enough, no one picked the load up so now I’m out a load and again, no options that wouldn’t have me sitting until Monday.
Made an executive decision to go home. I’m not taking scraps for loads. Am I out money? Sure. But if I’m not moving, am only 65 miles from home, and have a car at the yard, why not? I had a short, crappy mileage weekend last weekend. I get that freight ebbs and flows, but 2 weekends in a row I have been short changed and I am a bit miffed off about the whole thing at the moment. So much so that, well…..

That's why I don't like being near the Richmond yard on the weekend.

Past 2 weeks it's been alot of thumb twittering for me.Few days ago I unloaded right near Raphine, and sat 3 hrs waiting on the 'planners',I was like what.

Usually when you get in on Friday, there’s freight leaving Saturday for just about anywhere, especially FL. And it’s not a question of when I arrived (2 pm) because my DM called me at 8 am and asked my ETA and I told him I’d be there around 2-3 pm. I didn’t receive my assignment until I got to the exit for the yard. To me, that is BS. You know I’m coming in. You know I will want to go back out the next day (needed to go to the grocery store that evening). Why not go ahead and give me a load while there are still some decent ones? I know why, but since I’m such a nice person ;) I’ll just let y’all figure it out by yourselves (because I know you’re smart folks).

Was up at 0200, made my first drop in Tualatin at 0400. Headed the 143 miles over to Sisters and was done there at 0830. Got my reload assignment as I was bumping the dock. Deadhead 111 miles to Eugene to reload going to Santa Ysabel California for Wednesday between 0900 and 1300. This works out perfect. I’ll be able to start recapping Tuesday after midnight in order to finish this trip. I put in for my hometime, starting a week from today until the following Tuesday, 8 days off. I sent it in just to see what kind of response I would get about the 8 days off. None, 25 minutes after I sent it in I got the confirmation back.

This load I have is a load of organic potting soil going to a huge cannabis growing farm. This ought to be cool. I looked it up on Google maps, big outfit growing alot of pot.
