Well.....if you have to pay an escrow, those would be the bad ones. I'm speaking from experience moreso than opinions..over the time I did the 1099 thing, I found out about other companies that did things the right way in Chicagoland. They just aren't advertised. I did work for a company in which I had to pay an escrow. Had to clean my record up. Had to have a job too. Wasn't meant to be the long term fix. Sometimes you do what you gotta do. I learned of other legit companies there, but I had my sights set on being where I'm at now once my record got fixed.

 

65 cpm on W2..hmmmmmm I know I'd probably chance it. I do see them in NC alot when I run there. I don't know man.....drivers can embellish just as much as recruiters can. Good luck to ya!!

 

Or... You COULD make .715+ ON W2 LTL. You could ALSO join that LAZY BUM @jtaran06 at FXG with his new trucks and cushy run making 100K! Yes, he is a lazy bum.

If you found the Chicago company that didn't dump on a driver, I'm happy you got in and out.
Doesn't change my opinion on them at all.

Truck driving has changed dramatically in the last 25 years or so.
It is still a business but drivers are no longer treated as an asset and 1099 companies have exploited that.
Look at turnover rate or complaints from local, state and federal agencies, along with the private and review sites.
Why is it that are none of those companies are in the good company threads but fill the bad ones.
Once again I'm glad you got out intact but your success story is not typical.
If you want to recommend one,.. well it's a free country.

I've never put myself in a position of having to work for anything other than the pleasure, the joy and the paycheck working the highways of this continent. It has allowed me to work the way I see fit and not someone else's idea of how it should be.

 

The company I went to was 1099. It was a so-so experience. I went in knowing that I was going to get ####ed. It did solve problems quickly, but now I have a story to tell younger drivers as to why its important to stay out of trouble on and off the road. I can say that's my biggest silver lining.

 

You are a success story and should be proud of it as such, but many more are not.
That demographic is who 1099 companies exploit.

lazy is right though. I had a 5 hour nap at work yesterday and it’s getting to the point it’s not enough

boring. I hate driving. My 380 miles a night is hard on me.
