Mr. YankeeTEX, I can appreciate what you are saying. Although I do have to disagree when you say issues with dispatch is not a safety issue. All you have to do is ask anyone about cell phone use, what type of conversation they are having while driving (not suppose to do but people do anyways) or prior to driving most certainly plays a roll on a drivers concentration. That being said they way dispatch talks to their drivers , how they are treated does play a roll in safety. That is common knowledge.

Ok. as far as safety issues with dispatch. If you cant do it legal send a "no commit" or "service delay". That simple. Cell phone while driving, thats YOUR fault. Don't answer it. The don't block the numbers, it will show a number in the caller id and you can stop then return call when you get a chance. Plus you have a qualcom (or one of the fancy new units) in the truck for communication with GB or whoever.

Dispatch talking to drivers, don't think so. Unless you are on some kind of dedicated account you are not talking directly to dispatch. You are talking to your stl or dbl (or whatever they are calling themselves this month) and if you have an issue you should talk to their boss (or the safety department if you really think it is a safety issue), not posting on some message board.

Common knowledge, I don't really know what you are talking about there. If it is a load related issue sent the needed macro, cell phone while driving, issue don't answer while driving. I guess the only common knowledge is that Schneider has a bunch of drivers who sit around and moan and complain about everything.

Jeeeez Texmex, I never said I talk while driving I used that to "describe" a situation that "alot" of people do. I have and to I say no I never have is inaccurate. Now to say dispatch "not" talking to drivers.? Absolutely!! And like I said 5:45a.m. Because I had "ken" who is board 5533 call me at that time and swear at me as well. That alone should be an immeadiate termination. They can look up to see on Schnieders records to see if a call was placed (which theres a record) of that to my cell phone. Aren't you the guy who even said people post so many much inacuarate info on here? I'm just wondering how you know for a fact I've never been badgered by dispatch and had KEN swear at me. Secondly when I get a call regardless of what time it is I just pick it up. Rest assured people do not think dispatch is calling at that time. And "common knowledge" relates to "knowing" that phone calls can be a distraction to someone regarding "what type" of conversation took place. Geeez if you really new what goes on with certain "boards"

Texmex, 1 thing you are right about is what they call themselves this month or any month. The person that assigns me the load thru qualcomm I call "dispatch" The guy who called me, his name is KEN. He may be a "preplanner" or what ever I do not care, however a "FACT" HE CALLED ME AND SWORE AT ME" no one should ever have the right to do that. I hope and pray he does that to the right person and ends up getting his teeth smashed into the back of his neck along with getting canned. And I DO HAVE A "RIGHT" to "WISH" and "PRAY" for anything I want. Another thing that annoys people (Im 1 of them) how is it you're so sure I never got a call when in fact I did.? 1 thing you must be assigned to 1 heck of a board and great preplanners, and dispatch if you are so naive to that fact.

When exactly did I say you never got a call? I just went back and read again what I wrote and don't see where I said you never got a call. What I do wonder though is, are you on this "Ken"'s board? If not how do you know the board number? What oc is he at? I don't know many dbl (I still call them stl's) that get to the office before 7am, so the whole 5:45 is sounding a little strange. Also, did you report him? Did you call your dbl (if you are not on his board) and make a complaint? And if you are on his board (but then you should know his last name) did you call his boss or your terminal manager to voice your issues about this "Ken" fellow? or are you just gonna post on a message board and hope somebody else corrects your "issue"

As far as being on a good board, I guess. I have been on a few boards and had about 8 or so stl's in the almost 10 years (april) I have been with schnieder. I am not naive, as you say, just your story seems to have a few holes in it. (or you are not telling us everything).

Anyway, have a nice day. I am done with this topic.

I see the electronic logging as a blessing and a pain in the butt. A blessing if it gets mandated industry wide so we all have to deal with it. But a pain since not all the bugs are worked out of the system. Also I have many unaswered questions about it. First of many is when does it start logging on duty? I park at many of my pickups/deliveries. With that in mind, I have to move the truck many times about 1/2 mile or so to back into a dock...well my ten hours may not be up at the time. Another point is what if you have to move in a truckstop? Another deal is I have had shippers/recievers with multipual buildings in a town...what does the system log if I need to drive about 2-3 miles to the other location?

TIMM, More than likely it was a support shift working out of Green Bay calling you at that hour. From what I have seen the DBLs, STLs, and ICAs don't usually get into the office until 8am or sometimes 7am local time. If you feel so passoinate about this problem go to your DBL in person or file a report on this "Ken".

I have been leased to Schneider for going on five years in the intermodal division. We all have had the new Qualcomms installed in my area recently. I have no problem with it, I run an average of 500 miles a day in the northeast. I run legal anyway, but it does take away any chance of cheating at all. It takes longer to do the electronic logs than just drawing a line, because you have to enter every little detail of load info, post trips etc. But It is easy to get used to even after drawing lines for over 20 years!

It seems like Schneider is taking the bull by the horns. HOS violations are a huge no-no and LEOs are gonna be all over drivers about this. As a wannabe driver, I'm looking at carriers who are proactive with respect to safety and technology. A carrier that resists change doesn't appeal to me. This is a high-tech world we live in. Might as well suck it up and get on board.

I'm going to keep it a secret until I've been with them long enough to have enough dirt on them for a hit-and-run post in "Report a Bad Company". I've been taking notes and my BS Quotient is gaining strength.:biggrin_25525:

Oh, and with respect to CRE........BITE ME!:biggrin_25522:
