I've heard that as well. The couple rescue missions I got assigned recently can confirm.

These last several posts were just the issues that I was hoping that would be alluded to. With all due respect my CDL instructor, I believe him to be very well intentioned; but it's you guys who have the information about what really goes on within the building.

Furthermore, I don't trust the word of a recruiter. One of my primary concerns with regards to getting hired, is to be promised a higher starting wage, only to be put on the "BS 3-5 year progression", or stuck with a "poverty wage". I would have no problems being a feeder driving at night or working in a sleeper OTR; but the other two contingencies would be big issues.

I'm also realizing that the unknown variables which may influence my potential starting wage, or progression has to do with my hub's location. With all of that in mind, how would I go about getting the facts without getting BS'd by a recruiter? For example...Do you I go into Human Resources at my local UPS hub?

UPS, at least at my location back when I got hired, did the OPPOSITE of recruiting.

"This place sucks the first couple years, then it gets good, then it get great. You just gotta put in your time."

And that assessment was correct. A lot of people didn't make it through the on-call-for-low-pay process. They should've stuck it out.

Most trucking companies require extra workers for part of the year only, UPS is one of those companies. They only need you during the Christmas season so you basically stay on as a temp for years hoping one of the older drivers croaks or retires cause they could flip 20 trucks over and not get fired, or you could have connections with the union and get a permanent position that way.

Oh and a guy that was a janitor for 10 years with UPS and has zero experience can basically take your route if he wants.
