Being in an automatic is not going to limit you. Most companies are going to autoshifts. Pretty much everyone has a few at the very least. That said. You can retake the road test later to get rid of it.
Number5, JrzyDave, MANXimus and 1 other person Thank this. -
I see more and more ads from truckin companies, "We hire drivers with automatic restriction." Companies prefer automatic transmissions because fuel economy is better.
There's a need for stick shifts for specialized hauling such as heavy haul and some off-road applications.
I drove automatics pulling liquid hazmat tankers 48 states and loved it. Wasn't stressed or tired at the end of a driving period like I was driving a stick shift.

Drove a lot of icy roads with it hauling loads from Tennessee to Pacific Northwest and never had an issue. -
Hell I’d start with Prime before Schneider. Did the whole Schneider thing. I had to do everything short of murder staff to get paid properly. Why do they make the pay scheme so convoluted? It’s stupid. Jet set also got the broken tractors. But iirc they don’t have cameras or lane departure. And you get a (small) salary.

Is prime tanker division worth it though? The only poster I remember that was with prime in tanker didn't make it very long. I'd like to hear from their tanker drivers to see what they get for pay and miles.
